The word ecology is already in frequent use in our country. You have probably heard the word ecology before and you know what has been done, is being done, and should be done in our country for the benefit of ecology. And in principle, these are important projects. For whatever reason, their effects may not be to our liking, but if we are to survive on this planet, it is time to start saving what is left of our environment.
Thus we can desulfurize thermal power plants and other major sources of pollution, switch to ever more environmentally friendly fuels and heating, reduce fuel consumption in cars and other vehicles significantly compared to the past, and reduce the fuel consumption of various We have significantly reduced the consumption of fuel for cars and other vehicles compared to the past, and we have promoted electrification in a variety of ways.
However, since moving from the country to the city, one is reminded of something still forgotten. That is the flyers from various stores that fill my mailbox. I have never handed out a flyer for the one store I shop at, and even though I have thrown away the flyers from other stores over the years, they just keep piling up. I have no idea how much unnecessary trash I have produced by doing so. And how much garbage has been created by the 100,000 residents of my town and our 10.5 million Czechs.
But politicians remember. The Ministry of Environment is already preparing a change in the law, according to which such flyers will also have to pay a recycling fee. This would make the flyers more expensive and thus allow retailers to print less. This is because there is too much waste in disposable flyers. Twenty thousand tons of paper are disposed of annually.
I think its a good idea. Why print and distribute something that most of us probably don\’t care about? At least judging by the number of mailboxes with signs that say do not drop off flyers. However, according to the Czech Republic Council for the Elderly, this is clear discrimination against the elderly, who often do not have the Internet, computers, or smart phones. And they suffer from fewer flyers, limited free access to information, and social discrimination against the elderly, they say. They have to go to Penney\’s to find out from price tags how much chicken, pork, stain remover, whiskey, gin, and electric drills cost this week.
